Welcome to the Five Minutes, Alfie Book Tour!
If you are the proud owner of small humans, you’re in for a treat today. I have the honour of introducing you to this stunning book, Five Minutes, Alfie – AND – if you keep reading, there’s a fantastic GIVEAWAY. Now, don’t say I don’t look after you!
Brazen Mummy Writes is part of the book tour for this delightful new children’s book, written by the talented Lily Mae Walters.
Firstly, let me show you the thing they call “the blurb”, which is that fun teaser on the back of the book:
The Blurb for Five Minutes, Alfie
Alfie snuggles down in bed,
dreams still in his little head.
He dreams he’s a king going out for a ride.
“A dragon sleeps in front of the gate,” they cried.
How will they succeed in waking him up?
By helping each other and lots of luck.
Behind the Scenes With Five Minutes, Alfie
I was all kinds of excited to get some backstage action with this book. I know the author, Lily Mae Walters, through my fabulous Facebook group Chick Lit and Prosecco. (If you read or write chick lit, I personally invite you to join us! You sound like our kind of chick.)
Through the group, Lily Mae (AKA Florence Keeling), invited me to look at the book before it went to print – eek! (Don’t you love how the online world opens you up to lovely new friendships and opportunities? I’m so rock and roll.)
And then through more group gossip, I had the chance to join this blog tour. (Bloggers – do come and join us if you want to get more behind the scenes opportunities.)
(You may also remember Lily Mae Walters from my blog post full of tips for writers on how to find inspiration.)
My Review of Five Minutes, Alfie
Ooh, so here goes…
I received my lovely, digital copy of Five Minutes, Alfie – so I sat down with my two year old boy, and we read.
And wow, didn’t we love it!
Five Minutes, Alfie is a rhyming book – yippee for those. They’re always a favourite in our house, because they hold our toddler’s attention better than anything else. But honestly, I find there aren’t nearly as many rhyming books out there, so I was over the moon to find this one.
(As an aside, I once read that rhyming books aren’t produced as much as the rhymes don’t translate, hence the big guys make less cash. Not sure if that is true, but it sounds kind of sad. So yay to Lily Mae for bringing us this.)
What I also love about rhyming books is that with repetition, our toddler begins reciting huge chunks of them, like a nursery rhyme. So they are incredible for his memory too.
Tension, Excitement and a Gorgeous Dragon!
Five Minutes, Alfie is full of tension, excitement, gorgeous dragon pictures, and of course a happy ending. It’s about an ordinary boy who dreams he’s a king, and saves the day with a little bit of common sense and a whole lot of bravery.
It’s a book full of fun, adventure and imagination and I can’t recommend it enough.
We have a digital version, but I’m planning to grab a real copy for my little boy as his Easter treat. (I’m keeping the chocolate for me!)
And that, my darling mummas, is all from me. I’ll leave you with some details on where you can buy the book and/or enter the GIVEAWAY below.
If you know of any other rhyming books my toddler would love, or just want to say hi, keep on scrolling and pop your comments in the box. I always love to hear from you.
Love and stuff
Anita – (Brazen Mummy)
